The Tourism Development Department recently organised a networking session as part of the ongoing efforts to strengthen ties with Korean Travel Agencies in Seoul, Korea.
A total of 11 Korean travel agencies participated in the networking session, along with delegations from Brunei Darussalam comprising Royal Brunei Airlines, Darussalam Services, Freme Travel Services, Sunshine Borneo Tours & Travel, Anthony Tours & Travel and The Empire Brunei.
The networking session, hosted at the Royal Brunei Airlines General Sales Agents (RB-GSA) office, commenced with a product presentation by the Tourism Development Department from Brunei Darussalam followed by a pre-scheduled one-on-one networking between the Brunei delegation and Korean travel agencies. Throughout this engaging session, participants delved into detailed conversations about tailored tourism packages catered to Korean travellers, paving the way for potential collaboration.
The networking session coincided with Brunei’s participation in the 39th Seoul International Travel Fair (SITF), which showcased Brunei’s unique offerings and tailored packages made specifically for Korean market which among them are Brunei Wildlife and Island Discovery catered for nature enthusiasts, Play and Stay at The Empire Brunei offering authentic golf experience, Brunei Cultural Adventure, Diving Into The Treasures of Brunei’s Shipwreck, Islamic experience in three days two nights and more.
Aligned with the department’s objective to promote activities centered on nature, adventure, and culture, these packages are designed to unveil the abode of peace, specifically targeting the tourist market.
The participation at SITF has generated interest among stakeholders and is expected to increase the number of Korean tourists visiting Brunei, building the country’s presence in the global tourism market. In 2023, Brunei welcomed 4,020 Korean tourists and is anticipating to boost this number further by the end of the year.
The Tourism Development Department has lined up a series of marketing campaigns and activities for 2024, with the upcoming participation at the NATAS Travel Fair in Singapore set for August 2024.
