Cheery songs, colourful performances and a charming cast, International School Brunei (ISB) recently held the first showing of its 60th anniversary musical production showcase, The Adventures of Dr. Dolittle at the ISB theatre.
The school production is a delightful musical based on the classic story of a quirky veterinarian with an extraordinary gift of being able to talk to animals.
From Polynesia the Parrot to Dab-Dab the duck, the show features a cast and crew of some 200 ISB students from primary and secondary including teachers and staff.
The unique adaptation, inspired by the book and film, was written specifically for ISB, and whisks the audience away on a journey from a quaint English village to exotic locations as Dr. Dolittle embarks on a quest to find the legendary Great Pink Sea Snail.
The experience is one filled with laughter, music, and the power of understanding creatures great and small, while also exploring the wonders of friendship, empathy, and the importance of understanding and respecting all living beings.
Executive Principal and Chief Executive Officer of ISB, Dominic Morley said, “This play, brought to life by the dedication and talent of our wonderful, hard-working pupils, is a testament to ISB’s commitment to inclusive international education and excellence.”
“Throughout the rehearsals, the children have demonstrated incredible enthusiasm, passion and tenacity to develop the skills and courage to perform,” he added.
Performing Arts Teacher at ISB and Director of the production, Daisy Cole said, “Our talented cast and crew, made up of students from diverse backgrounds and with a wide range of abilities, have worked tirelessly to create a magical experience for you.”

Four shows are scheduled for The Adventures of Dr. Dolittle, with a performance taking place each day from Tuesday, 4th June 2024 to Friday, 7th June 2024.
