Brunei Select emerged victorious over Brunei Legends in an exhilarating charity match at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas.
The Pusat Ehsan Charity Football Match captured the hearts of hundreds of football fans and enthusiasts who flocked to the stadium to see a star-studded lineup of local and international footballers.
The charitable match organised by Top-Bins Event Management also featured football legends Ricardo Andrade Quaresma, Fernando Morientes and Louis Saha.
During the event, both teams showcased their skills and prowess on the field led by His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen of Team Brunei Legends and His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Muntaqim of Team Brunei Select
In the first half of the game, Spanish forward Fernando Morientes scored the opening goal in the 8th minute.
Brunei Legends fought back with team captain His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen scoring an equalizer in the 15th minute of the game and secured a 1-1 draw.
In the 43th minute, Malaysian Influencer Farish Aziz scored the second for Brunei Select.
Moments later, Michael Henry, who plays for Indera SC, wrapped up an impressive win for Brunei Select with a score of 3-1 to end the first half.
Moving on to the second half, both teams continued to test each other’s defence with each team having opportunities to score but both also came up with multiple good saves including a penalty kick awarded to Brunei Legend.
As the final whistle blew, a last-minute goal by Hendra Azam in the 90th minute brought the victory to the Brunei Select team.
At the end of the match, His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik presented the prizes to the players.
All proceeds from the ticket sales will go to Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam.
