Brunei LNG collected 466 kilogrammes or 71 bags of waste at its recent coastal cleanup campaign at Seri Kenangan Beach and Jalan Pengasing in Tutong.
Over 100 people gathered at the event supporting the cause organised by BLNGolden Hearts and Brunei LNG Eco Eagles in collaboration with local NGO Green Brunei.
The campaign was one of BLNG Brunei’s engagements with the district office, municipal and students in the Sustainability Entrepreneurship Programme of Muda Hashim Secondary School and Sufri Bolkiah Secondary School to help preserve the natural beauty of the country’s coastlines.
For the company, the coastal cleanup is its commitment to supporting Brunei’s sustainability efforts while championing the protection and conservation of the environment.
By promoting sustainable habits and spreading awareness to residents on the lasting impact of waste, Brunei LNG encourages ongoing action in maintaining and improving the local environment and remains dedicated to instilling long-term environmental stewardship in the community.
In their remarks, Managing Director and CEO of Brunei LNG Adeleye Falade and Asset Manager Haji Zalani Haji Lalim emphasised cleanliness as a priority at Brunei LNG while highlighting the importance of working together with the community to foster a sense of responsibility and ownership, ensuring a stronger, more environmentally conscious community that is committed to protecting the natural surroundings.
The one-hour cleanup covered an area of over 5 kilometres along the beach, participated by the staff and management of Brunei LNG, officers and staff at the Tutong District office, youth volunteers and local communities.
Also joining the event were Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Abdul Aziz Haji Hamdan who is also the village head of Sengkarai, Acting District Officer of Tutong, Mohammad Sofian Haji Basri and Acting Assistant District Officer of Tutong, Haji Haizul Rizal Haji Yahya.
