Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) has commenced the development of its latest BIBD Connects located at Labu Square in the Temburong district.
With a land area of 3,135 sq m, BIBD Connects Temburong is intended to be a state-of-the-art infrastructure project aimed at enhancing community engagement and providing modern amenities for local enterprises.
This development aligns with BIBD’s commitment to fostering sustainable and holistic growth across all districts in Brunei Darussalam.
The project, expected to be completed by mid-2025, will be a multi-storey building designed with sustainability and environmental consciousness at its core.
Featuring energy-efficient designs, the building will incorporate rainwater harvesting and solar panels to power lighting, ensuring minimal impact on the environment. These green elements reflect BIBD’s broader sustainability initiatives, also seen in the eco-friendly features of its Heritage Branch in Bandar Seri Begawan, further cementing the bank’s commitment to green infrastructure.
As the third facility in the BIBD Connects series—following the successes in Lambak and Taman Mahkota Jubli Emas—the Temburong project will feature key amenities to serve the local population. These include ATM services, rentable spaces for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and a food and beverage (F&B) area for anchor tenants. BIBD Connects facilities are designed as community hubs, combining banking services with retail opportunities, ensuring access to essential services while supporting local economic growth.
BIBD Connects Temburong will offer rentable spaces specifically designed for MSMEs. These spaces will provide local entrepreneurs with a platform to generate income and grow their businesses, contributing to the overall development of the Temburong district. By offering affordable and accessible spaces, BIBD aims to empower local enterprises to thrive in a competitive market.
The building will also feature a central communal space, offering a versatile venue for hosting a wide range of events such as pop-up markets, social gatherings, workshops, and corporate functions. With flexible seating arrangements and modern design elements, the space will provide an inviting and functional atmosphere for both formal and casual events.
This development is part of BIBD’s ongoing commitment to contributing towards Brunei’s Vision 2035, which prioritises sustainable economic diversification and equitable growth. The BIBD Connects facility in Temburong will play a significant role in ensuring that all districts have the infrastructure and opportunities needed to thrive.
This project reinforces BIBD’s commitment to ensuring development in all districts of Brunei Darussalam. BIBD remains the only bank to maintain a full-fledged branch in Temburong, further emphasising its dedication to bringing essential banking services to all corners of the nation. By developing eco-friendly facilities that contribute to local economic growth, BIBD is taking meaningful steps to support Brunei’s vision for a sustainable future.
The groundbreaking ceremony for BIBD Connects Temburong was officiated by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Minister of Home Affairs and Chairman of BIBD.
Also in attendance was Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Haji Sulaiman bin Haji Nasir, along with Permanent Secretaries and Deputy Permanent Secretaries at the Ministry of Home Affairs, BIBD’s Managing Director and CEO, Awang Junaidi bin Haji Masri, BIBD Senior Management and staff, representatives from the Temburong District Office, and members of the local community.
