Turkish Embassy delivers food packages to less fortunate families

Some 300 food packages were given to the less fortunate families recently by the Turkish Embassy in Brunei which initiative was funded by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA).

The drive-through donation which was held at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium saw families receiving essential items such as rice, cooking oil and foodstuffs.

Turkish Ambassador to Brunei Professor Dr Hamit Ersoy in a statement said, “(Ramadhan) It is a time which commands us to take care of the needy people, and honour their rights over us. So, we can reflect upon their conditions and Insyallah we can act in the best way possible following the Sunnah.”

TİKA has a long history of providing assistance around the world in collaborative social, cultural and developmental projects.

Currently, the Turkish agency is engaged in a range of development cooperation activities in 150 countries through 62 programme coordination offices located in 60 countries across five continents.

On hand to deliver the aid packages to the families was Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport Hjh Nor Ashikin Hj Johari along with the ambassador.
