His Majesty the Sultan attends 26th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Rwanda

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa‘adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, on Thursday made a courtesy call on His Excellency Paul Kagame, the President of the Republic of Rwanda, held at Urugwiro Village (Presidential Office), Kigali.

Accompanying His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam was His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen.

During the meeting, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and His Excellency the President of the Republic of Rwanda exchanged views on matters of mutual interest.

Diplomatic relations between Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of Rwanda were established on 9 December 2020.

His Majesty the Sultan also attended the Official Welcome Reception and State Dinner hosted by the President.

Upon arrival at Kigali Convention Centre, the monarch was greeted by His Excellency Paul Kagame and Her Excellency Jeanette Kagame, First Lady of the Republic of Rwanda.

The dinner was further enlivened with cultural performances, held in honour of the Commonwealth leaders attending the 26th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) from 24 to 25 June in Kigali.
