Baiduri Bank together with Darussalam Enterprise (DARe) held the second workshop of the MSME Empowerment Series titled ‘Design Thinking: Accelerated’ at the iCentre Auditorium of the Anggerek Desa Technology Park.
The workshop, which focused on Design Thinking for local Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), was held on 23 November 2022.
It was attended by local MSMEs which included a Design Sprint facilitated by the founder of Positive X’s (PX), Marcus Koh.
Koh has over 20 years of experience in corporate and entrepreneurship as well as 14 years of hands-on Design Thinking and Design Sprint with various clients.
The workshop touched on validating critical business questions pertaining to the brand positioning of business organisations.
Additionally, it was curated to apply the Design Thinking framework by defining and reframing problems based on the emotional needs of customers as well as by practising a human-centred approach to creating solutions.
“The objective is to develop an experimental and learning approach through rapid prototyping and iteration,” read the statement.
At the end of the workshop, participants emphasised that it gave them clear direction on how to create and tell their brand story and how to differentiate their product line from the competition.
Furthermore, they developed an understanding of the five stages of Design Thinking; a practical and hands-on approach to applying this concept.
Since April 2019, under the MSME Empowerment Series programme, various workshops have been held, covering a range of topics from e-commerce to business strategy.
This collaboration brings Baiduri Bank and DARe together to create synergies on top of complementing the current training courses provided by DARe’s Industry Business Academy (IBA), giving local business owners access to a more thorough and well-rounded training programme that will enable them to be more successful in their businesses.
“Baiduri Bank is deeply committed to supporting the local MSMEs as part of the Economic Pillar of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts,” read the statement.
Baiduri Bank’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Ti Eng Hui said the MSME Empowerment Series seeks to further equip local businesses and help them to upskill their capabilities in running their business.
“This is in line with Baiduri Bank’s commitment to promote entrepreneurship by supporting and nurturing Brunei MSMEs at various stages of the business cycle,” he concluded.
