McDonald’s Brunei collects over 100 pints of blood

McDonald’s Brunei collected a total of 177 pints of blood during a recent two-day blood donation campaign, commemorating its 30th Anniversary.

The franchise hosted the drive at its Jerudong and Lambak Drive-Thru branches on two separate days – 27 February and 6 March 2023, respectively.

McDonald’s first-ever campaign was also part of its CSR project that aimed at helping Blood Bank Ripas to replenish the country’s blood stock.

McDonald’s Brunei in a statement said that it is proud to host the blood donation drive and is committed to continuing the initiative to give back to the community.

For Nadzri Harif, one of the donors at McDonald’s Brunei Jerudong Drive-Thru branch said that it was his fourth time donating.

“I feel great and the blood bank staff handling the session were very efficient and professional,” he said.

Noting that one pint of blood can save up to three lives, the cause is also good for one’s health and only took a few minutes from one’s daily schedule.

“It doesn’t hurt as much as you think, and it’s a calm and quick procedure. Do it with a buddy or bring one along to keep you company,” he concluded, thanking the franchise for giving away a complimentary chicken burger to all successful donors.

Sharing the same sentiment, second-time donor Nurol Bakhir said that she felt good and energised after donating.

“I want to help the community and the blood bank knowing the low blood supply in the country,” she said, adding that as a fitness enthusiast, it is also essential for one’s body to be recharged via blood donation.

Meanwhile, fourth-time donor Muhd Jamil Sanif shared that as a person who loves running, donating blood does help his body feel lighter and refreshed.

“Apart from the low supply, the cause is good and do not be afraid of needles. You help people who are in need of blood,” said the O+ blood type donor.
