InfoCom Federation Brunei (IFB) celebrated its 16th Anniversary with an annual charity dinner and the launch of the first IFB award 2024 at The Centrepoint Hotel’s Goldstone Ballroom recently.
Heading into its 16th year, IFB has forged a path through the digital landscape, leaving footprints of progress and innovation, said IFB Chairperson Pengiran Sarimah Pg Haji Abdul Latif during the anniversary dinner.
“Through each line of code written, each network we built, each system we implemented, we did not merely push the boundaries of technology; we empowered individuals, transformed industries, and touched lives in ways both grand and subtle,” she said.
The chairperson further reminded Brunei’s ICT community to continue to strive for excellence and innovation.
“Technology has contributed significantly to our economy. Tech as an industry is vibrant and has been growing rapidly. Tech is also a core enabler of our digital economy. Let’s continue to grow the digital economy sector together, and create more good jobs and opportunities for Bruneians,” she said.
The event continued with the launch of the first IFB Award 2024 for the best corporate social responsibility, the best innovation, the best technology and the best digital media.
The chairperson said that the objective of the IFB Award is to celebrate members who have done well in their areas of expertise.
She further added that the recognition and acknowledgement of effort will encourage, and motivate others to keep going and do well for our country.
The categories, criteria and prizes will also be published on the IFB website soon.
The event also saw the handing over of donations to IFB from the Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry (AITI), Sprintville Technologies and Allied Integrated Solutions, Ericsson Telecommunications Pte Ltd, Progresif, imagine, Datastream Digital, Rhymin and Partners, Huawei Technologies (B), Anak IT and Folec Communication.
On hand to receive the donations was IFB Deputy Chairman for Industry Dr Yong Chee Tuan.
The event was attended by the Minister of Transport and Infocommunications Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary Pg Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha.
Attendees also included Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Chong Chin Yee, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications (MTIC) Ir Haji Mohammad Nazri Haji Mohammad Yusof and Deputy Permanent Secretary (Infocommunications) at the MTIC Haji Hairul Mohd Daud Haji Abdul Karim as well as AITI Chief Executive Ir Haji Jailani Haji Buntar and IFB members.
