Turkish Embassy hosts language course for MinDef officers

The Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye recently hosted a Turkish Language Course for some 15 officers at the Ministry of Defence (MinDef).

In his opening remarks, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Brunei Darussalam Professor Dr Hamit Ersoy said the session by the Yunus Emre Institute (YEE) underscored the interest and growing success of Turkish language courses in the country.

“This shows an increasing interest from the public to learn and know more about Türkiye and its rich historical and cultural heritage. It also importantly highlights a milestone for our embassy, as this is the first class, we have organised with MinDef,” said the ambassador.

He further said that the response to the language courses has been encouraging as it facilitates people-to-people cultural exchange that further promotes closer mutual understandings and allows deeper meaningful bonds to flourish.

“This establishes the fertile bedrock for our bilateral agreements to bear fruit and yield tangible results,” he added.

Touching on the effort to broaden and widen the grounds for cooperation between Brunei and Turkish communities, the ambassador said that these language courses are a stepping stone for further educational and cultural exchanges between our countries.

The Turkish Language Course was delivered by YEE Coordinator for Brunei Lale Ersoy and upon passing the end-of-term assessment, the participants will receive a widely recognised certificate from YEE.

The new course marked the tenth institution to host Turkish language courses in the sultanate, following previous sessions with the Prime Minsiter’s Office (PMO), the Brunei History Center (PSB), Sekolah Menengah Jamalul Alam (SMJA), Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE), Kolej Universiti Peguruan Ugama Seri Begawan (KUPUSB), Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA), Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) and the embassy’s chancery.
