Brunei Shell Petroleum signs two new cadet pilot trainees

Brunei Shell Petroleum Sdn Bhd (BSP) has awarded scholarships to two new cadet pilot trainees, Yasmin Suhaer Yusoff and Hamiz Aqmar Abd Razak.

They are set to attend the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) programme at Hillsboro Aero Academy (HAA) in Oregon, United States of America for 18 months.

In a signing ceremony held at BSP’s aviation hangar in Anduki, BSP’s Acting Head of Logistics Delivery Aviation Khanan Venugopal expressed appreciation and congratulations to the new cadets for making it through the rigorous and meticulous selection process.

“The Cadet Pilot selection process is often gruelling and demanding, designed to test the mental and emotional resilience of the candidates,” he said.

This year’s cadet pilot selection process took approximately five months, starting with 725 applications.

“Some 100 were shortlisted for the written test at LLRC and 29 individuals passed and sat for interview. Then down to eight for the Simulation test at CAE Rimba, and we now have the two successful candidates,” said Khanan.

For her part, one of the cadet pilot trainees, Yasmin Suhaer Yusof, shared her gratitude for the opportunity and pride in being awarded the scholarships.

“This journey will undoubtedly be challenging, but also immensely rewarding. I am committed to upholding the values of safety, integrity, teamwork, and excellence that Brunei Shell Petroleum represents,” she said.

Present at the signing was BSP’s Head of Bruneianisation and Talent Rezona Haji Tajudin.
